Gosh this has been a while. I was sure i posted during the rehearsal period but it appears either i didn't or it doesn't exist. I sit here in a coffee shop in wimbledon waiting for my partner to come so we can see despicable me 2. This week we are back in London in Earlsfield with Baby tube. We are in the last week of this tour before we take a break. We head out again for more tubee fun in September.
The tour has had its good days and bad days but what has been most important is the feedback we have had from the show and how fantastic and positive it has been. It makes me feel very lucky about what i have been involved with and what difference it makes.
Tube is from Oily Cart it is a completly multi sensory show, three versions are on tour. We have a PMLD (profound and multiple learning difficulties , ASD (Autistic spectrum) and Baby. Each show is developed for its audience and Oily cart are very good at knowing what really works for there audiences and what needs to happen to make every show special for its audiences no matter there ability. I feel very lucky to be working with a very talented group of people who are very good at creating these experiences.
The problems that have arisen over the tour have been easy to solve and with such a great team behind myself and the cast make this tour easy. This is not a bad thing they provide such positive support throughout the process weather they are with us in a venue or school or the other side of the country in Oily HQ.
Also what makes this a pleasurable experience is when we visit a school is how warmly received into the school and how happy they are for us to be there, they understand the type of show we provide and how much they know there pupils will enjoy it.
As much as i am ready for a little break from the tour i will miss the experience and can not wait to get back to it in the autumn.
There has been many moments that i will not forget. Especially a certain moment were i had a child eat my hair!
Well i feel i should explain this more. This was at the Unicorn theatre it was a sunday ASD performance. We had a group and one boy came into the room and was a bit distressed he ran into the corner and the nature of the show i thought i would try to get him involved with some of the interactivity. Next thing i know my head is getting pushed down, smelt and suddenly chewed apon. His carer stopped him and apologised. I in honesty found it strange but very, very funny. Theres not many moments in life where you can say at work i had my hair eaten.
I really do hope i can continue my work with oily cart in the future, they are a fantastic company with great productions.
